COR's Mission Statement:

COR (Creating Opportunistic Results) Robotics is a company that exists to both educate and inspire the next generation of problem-solvers through the use of fun and engaging activities, while also working to shape the future of STEM education with ground-breaking curriculum.

Origins:

Ryan Swanson, a junior in the Mechanical Engineering Program at North Dakota State University, established COR Robotics in 2016 after recognizing the need for and the importance of cultivating knowledge of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) within today's youth and young adults.  During his high school career, Swanson was an integral part of FIRST Robotics Competition Team 4607, The Coalition of Independent Students.  The experiences that followed inspired Swanson to pursue a degree in engineering as well as instilled a love of robotics in him.  Now in college, Ryan Swanson continues to support FIRST Robotics by coordinating volunteers for regional competitions along with being a Robot Inspector for three years now and counting.  In his free time, Swanson works directly with robotics teams and students, mentoring them and providing valuable learning opportunities.  As the founder and CEO of COR, Swanson hopes to develop, refine, and increase robotics education across the Midwest and the USA as a whole.  The STEM skills (among other integral professional skills) developed through robotics are essential for achieving success in any career path in today's increasingly technological world, and COR aims to construct a solid foundation for students upon which they can then pursue their dreams in whatever path they chose.

The Blueprints:

COR Robotics currently hosts summer robotics camps for 3rd to 5th grade students, 6th to 8th grade students, and high school students. Each of the camps has different hands-on projects and goals; to learn more about the specifics, check out the "Camps" tab! Over the course of each camp, COR representatives work with the current curriculum, the group of students, and innovative experimentation to gather feedback to continuously improve the curriculum.  The ultimate goal for COR Robotics is to be able to work with state legislatures in developing and advancing a concrete and successful robotics-based curriculum for use in K-12 education.  Through its camps, COR also hopes to create an increased amount of training material for FIRST Robotics teams as a means of supplementing, supporting, and maintaining the FIRST fervor that has been (and continues to be) vital for teaching tomorrow's great thinkers and problem-solvers.
